Website Maintenance.

Check out reyfields.co.uk a site which I have maintained regularly.

Harvey, Escott & Co.

Harvey, Escott & CoThis site was initially designed back in 2003 - things move on and the site had to also. A full redesign of the site harvey-escott.co.uk was completed recently.

The company is based in the small town of Burnham-on-Crouch in the Essex countryside which has a strong sailing tradition.

The site mirrors the original design in places but with a redesigned logo, layout and interface.

A little information about iconic v.3.0.

iconic mediaThe design of this site has elements of New Zealand and Maori culture incorporated. The new logo is based on a Ponga Fern unweaving its leaves. This is incorporated into Maori designs in the form of the Koru or spiral and symbolises new beginnings. The Koru is sometimes worn in the form of a pounamu made of greenstone or bone jewellery that should be gifted to the wearer.

The buttons and the barcode on the bottom right use a Paua or Abalone shell pattern, also very widely used in New Zealand by both Pakeha and Maori.

I have a great fondness for this pattern because not only is it beautiful but also I have spent a great deal of my free time in Kaikoura on the South Island freediving for Paua.

I felt that the impersonal nature and lack of individuality represented by the barcode contrasted perfectly with the beauty and uniqueness of the patterned shell.

The font used in the logo is the same used in the original logo on V.1.0. of the site. For me this shows that the past year has given me a renewed vigour and energy to progress from the base that I established in 2005.

This site has been designed using Adobe Photoshop CE and Macromedia Studio 8.
